A new chapter for your skin
Every tattoo carries a story, and sometimes that story is ready to be rewritten. Maybe it marks a version of yourself you've outgrown, a relationship that's ended, or a choice made in a different season of life. A cover-up is its own kind of alchemy, transforming what already exists on your skin into something that reflects who you are now. Old lines, darker tones, and faded shapes become the foundation for fresh color, movement, and meaning.
Successfully covering an existing tattoo takes more than placing new art on top. It requires choosing the right imagery, colors, and composition to truly conceal what lies underneath, and that's why I ask for full and complete artistic freedom with every cover-up. You bring the story you're ready to release and the feeling you want to carry forward. I'll design a piece that honors where you've been while fully becoming something new.
The Experience
My private studio, Alchemist Ink, was created as a space for connection and transformation, not just tattooing. People don't sit in my chair for ink alone. They come with stories, grief, hope, and questions, and I listen. For many clients, a cover-up is deeply personal, a way of reclaiming their skin, and I hold that with care.
Every cover-up begins with a consultation over Zoom or in person, so I can see your existing tattoo, understand its size, saturation, and placement, and hear what you're hoping to leave behind. Please expect two or more sessions, regardless of size. Cover-ups often need multiple layers of ink, and letting your skin heal between sessions creates a cleaner, more vibrant result that lasts. It's a process of patience, and the transformation is worth every step.
Pricing
Cover-ups are billed at $400 per hour, with a $300 drawing fee. The drawing fee covers the design process and reserves your place in my books. To be considered, your existing tattoo must be at least five years old, since older tattoos have fully settled into the skin and give me a more stable canvas to build on.

The more I know, the better I can see what's possible. In your request, share a clear, well-lit photo of the tattoo you'd like covered, how old it is, and its approximate size. Tell me what it means to you, what you're ready to let go of, and any feelings or imagery you're drawn to for the new piece. From there, we'll schedule your consultation and begin imagining what comes next.
